The Dominica Social Investment Fund (DSIF), on Monday, presented over half a million East Caribbean dollars towards three very important projects in the Carib Territory. A total of five hundred and fifty-nine thousand, two hundred and fifty dollars (XCD$559, 250.00) was presented to the Committee of Concerned Women for Isulukati Childhood Resource and Training Centre, the Carib Territory Sports Organising Committee and the Big River Development Group.
Patsy Thomas of the Committee for Concerned Women explained that the sixty thousand, seven hundred and fourteen dollars and thirty cents (XCD$60,714.30) presented to the committee would go towards the purchasing of equipment for the Isulukati Childhood Resource and Training Centre.

The centre currently caters for the education of children with special needs within the Carib Territory.
Two hundred and fifteen thousand, five hundred and seventy-seven dollars and twenty eight cents ($215,577.28) was presented to the Carib Territory Sports Organising Committee to facilitate improved access to the sporting facility and other facilities in within the community. The third group, the Big River Development Group was presented with two hundred and eighty-two thousand, nine hundred and fifty-nine dollars (XCD$282,959.00) for the construction of a bakery.
Carib Chief, Charles Williams, applauded Government and the European Union for their support for these projects. He noted that there has been an increase in the development and funding for projects within the Carib Territory. Among the projects mentioned were the recently launched Carib Territory Capacity Building Project and a six point five million dollar (XCD$6 500 000.00) water project funded by the European Union.

Hon. Kelly Graneau, Minister for Carib Affairs and Parliamentary Representative for the Carib Territory, encouraged residents to show tangible support for the projects that are currently being undertaken in their community as that is the only sure way to guarantee that the projects succeed.
